Before pics

Here's some pics of the yard the way it looked in the summer. The grass was really dry despite my efforts to water regularly. Weeds, quackgrass, and ant hills had overtaken the yard, although the pics probably don't show how bad the yard actually was.

Considered a deck

Another option I had considered earlier in the year was having a composite deck installed. By the time i had finally decided on the composite product, the manufacturer had gone out of business. Guess it was not mean to be.

Had enough of the weeds

Who needs grass anyways? Not that I have any, really. Most of my backyard is covered in weeds, quackgrass and clover. I've put my Weed-Hound to good use all year, but to no avail. The weeds keep coming back. Time for a different strategy.

It's time for a large patio and maybe more trees, shrubs and lots of mulch and stones, and less grass. and weeds. no more weeds!

I can see myself replacing the grass with a combination of patio, gravel, ground cover and also add rocks and shrubs.
